Who are you in real life?
I'm one of the participants from the Netherlands. The school system is different here so there's not really a point in giving info about it. Even though I liked participating in the simulation, I am probably going to do something really different in the future. Right now I'm thinking about studying medicine or something technical.
    I played Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

    a New Outlook?
It helped me understand the reasons behind some of the events in the Middle-East. Even though I do not agree with most of them.

    Making AIC Better
One of the things I expected to be more of was discussion. Most of the times, a country would send in a press release stating their vision on things and other countries would just say if they agree or not. It would have made it a lot more exciting if countries started debating why they don't agree with their vision. In my opinion most press releases were just blank statements, not really adding any action to the game.
Another things that should be improved is the activity of the teams. Some of our press releases did not get the planned outcome just because there was no response. If the NSAs and game mentors urge those teams some more to be active, it would have made the simulation a lot more exciting.

    NSAs and Game Mentors
One of the problems we had to face was the time difference between us and the USA. We often had to wait for a response from our NSA which really delayed us sometimes. This isn't anyone's fault ofcourse.
Nonetheless, he really helped us. It would have been nice to get some more spontaneous comments on what we were doing from time to time.

    Advice for future participants
Read every bit of background info you can find. Our team talked with an expert on Iran beforehand and I can really advise future participants to do so. Hearing info directly and being able to ask questions really helps you understand the characters you portray.

    AIC-Gold
This simulation was one of the coolest in school projects I have ever participated in. It was very well put together and I liked the interactivity. It was a little hard to get the grasp of in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks my group and I got the hang of it. We all really enjoyed being put into something that was effected with current events. I thought it was cool that every decision you made effected the future of your country. This gave more respect for the men and women who work in stressful positions every day. Overall this was a very good opportunity and I hope it continues at our school.
